Program Summary

Magic Hours is more than a daycare center. We teach. Magic Hours strives to incorporates 8 areas of learning on a daily basis to prepare children for their elementary experience.

Additionally, the social, emotional, physical, and educational goals of our System Four Curriculum have been created and implemented by professional educators to serve the learning needs of your child during these critical and formative years.

We offer several Program options throughout the week. A daily agenda can be found on our Calendar page.

System Four Curriculum

Social

Providing the opportunity for a child to learn to cooperatively play with others, paying attention to adults and teachers, and making reasonable transitions from activity to activity.

Emotional

Creating an environment for children to learn how to identify, understand and regulate one’s own feelings, to understand emotions in others, to develop empathy for others, and to establish and maintain relationships.

Educational

Establishing academic opportunities to allow problem-solving skills that employ reasoning, creativity, control and decision-making.

Physical

Enhancing a child’s environment through movement and interaction. When a child’s physical abilities develop, it provides confidence and control over their body in motion, they become more eager to venture into the world around them.

Policies

  •   For the protection of all children in our program, we will not accept a child with a temperature, or showing signs of illness or communicable disease.
  •   If your child contracts a communicable disease please contact the school so that notices may be sent to other families.
  •   If your child has an allergy, but is well enough to attend school, please bring a physician's statement to that effect.
  •   If your child becomes ill at school, either you or a designated guardian will be expected to pick up your child immediately. At least a 24-hour absence of contagious symptoms is mandatory. Children do not qualify to attend school while under the influence of medication that may mask symptoms of illness.
  •   Contagious symptoms require a note from a physician before returning to school. For guidance, please refer to our list of attendance exclusions included in your child's enrollment packet.
  •   If your child's symptoms of illness are pending diagnostic exams, laboratory results or cultures, you must keep your child at home until those results have been confirmed to avoid risk of contamination to others.This includes allergy, viral and bacterial situations. Magic Hours staff is not qualified to analyze, diagnose or monitor your child's medical symptoms or concerns.
  •   For the health and safety of others, food items that contain peanuts or that may have been processed with peanut ingredients are not allowed at Magic Hours. Due to allergies, all nut products are prohibited.
  •   Pre-Kindergarten children will bring home a progress report twice a year: the end of November and the end of May. If you have any questions concerning your child's adjustment, development and progress, please do not hesitate to call to make an appointment to discuss them.
  •   Parents are encouraged to visit our facility at any time, and are invited to assist staff members with holiday parties, or to stop by any time to share a moment with the children.
  •   Children nap daily in Rooms 1 and 2. Naps are an option for children in Room 3 as long as there is space available in the nap rooms.
  •   Sleep is never a forced issue. However, children must remaining in quiet activity on their classroom cots.
  •   Parents are responsible for bringing a clean crib size fitted sheet and blanket on the first day of each week. Bedding will be sent home at the end of each week to be washed. If bedding from home is not provided, a clean supply will be provided for a $10.00 fee.
  •   Please dress your child in comfortable play clothes, which he or she can manage independently.
  •   Shoes need to be adequate for safe outdoor and indoor play.
  •   Please label all clothing, including coats and sweaters.
  •   Each child will need to keep an extra change of clothing at school. Each article should be labeled and brought in a shoebox or backpack.
  •   The Magic Hours List of Positive Discipline: We anticipate trouble, give gentle reminders, distract to a positive model, offer choices, clarify messages, overlook small annoyances, point out natural consequences, provide renewal time, give hugs and caring, give praise or compliments, offer encouragement, arrange discussion among the children, provide discussion with an adult.
  •   Enrollment is contingent upon age, space availability, behavior and development. We are licensed for children ages 24 months through 6 years.
  •   A non-refundable registration fee of $175.00 per enrollment is required upon enrollment, and a last week's fee must be paid in advance (this amount must remain current with the tuition rates and program changes).
  •   Upon enrollment, payment will be accepted in the form of checks, money order, cash or credit card. Receipts are provided upon request.
  •   Tuition payment is due on the first day of your child's attendance with us each week. If you prefer to pay monthly or bi-weekly, that may be done in advance.
  •   There will be a $30.00 late fee charged, per week, if payment is made after Wednesday morning of each week. There are no tuition refunds.
  •   We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
  •   Magic Hours reserves the right to remain exempt from any and all legal procedures between parental partners.
  •   The enrolling adult is financially responsible for tuition. Payment from the enrolling parent only will be accepted.
  •   Any fee charged to Magic Hours by the State Department of Social Services, that is due to negligence on the part of any parent will be a fine assessed directly to the parent.
  •   If your child is with us at anytime during the week, then the full tuition is owed for that week.
  •   If your child misses everyday that week, whether through illness or vacation, then half the tuition amount is due.
  •   Should you plan to withdraw your child for more than 30 days, a re-registration fee of $175.00 may be paid before you leave to guarantee re-enrollment for your child for up to 30 days.
  •   Parents are required to give a one-week advance notice when enrollment is discontinued.
  •   If it is determined by Magic Hours administration that a child’s enrollment must be discontinued, a one-week notice will be issued. Conditions that may result in termination of enrollment may include but are not limited to: failure to pay tuition, noncompliance of our school policies, procedures or State of California Title 22 regulations, inability to meet the developmental or behavioral needs of the child, determination by school staff that continued enrollment is not in the best interest of the center or other children enrolled. The withdrawal policy for enrollments contracted with supplemental funding agencies will be consistent with the funded organization’s enrollment discontinuation policy. If safety compliance is an issue, immediate withdrawal for enrollment will occur without notice. If termination of enrollment occurs, no refunds will be given.
  •   A lunch and two snacks are included for all full day enrollments.
  •   One snack is provided for half-day enrollments.
  •   Children picked up late from a half-day program will automatically be provided a lunch at the rate of $5.50, added to your account.
  •   Nutritious food items may be brought from home provided they are nut free and are pre-approved by staff.
  •   Candy, cookies and gum are prohibited.
  •   All food items from home must be stored in a container and placed in your child’s cubby. Magic Hours is unable to heat or chill individual meals brought from home.
  •   For the health and safety of others, food items that contain nuts or are processed with nut ingredients are prohibited. Foods brought from outside sources must be sealed, have a label listing the ingredients and be pre-inspected by Magic Hours administration prior to entering the classrooms.

Registration Fee: $175 / Enrolled Child (non-refundable)

Please note that all payments are due in advance of your child's enrollment. Registration is not complete until the Registration Fees have been paid.

The final week of your selected program must also be paid in advance.

Additional Fees

  $50 Professional Service Fee
  $30 Late Fee on tuition paid after Wednesday morning of each week.
  $10.00 fee plus $2.00 per minute late pick fees (after 12 p.m. for half day OR after 6 p.m. for full day).
  $5.50 Lunch Fee for late pick up of half day program.
  $10 Bedding rental fee.
